Edo de Waart will be appointed Principal Guest Conductor of San Diego Symphony Orchestra in California. The term of office is three years from next season. He is 78 years old born in Amsterdam. Currently living in Wisconsin, USA. In addition to conducting almost all major orchestras around the world, he has appeared at Bayreuth and Salzburg Festival. He is well-known as “Orchestra Builder” who is good at nurturing orchestras and has served as music director and chief conductor. It is said that the number is the largest among active conductor. From 2016 he is the music director of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.
