VIENNA 〓 Zubin Mehta cancels the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra

Conductor Zubin Mehta canceled the Northern Europe tour with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. 81-year-old Mehta received shoulder surgery at the end of last year, and recovery is awaited. Two people, Daniel Harding and Andres Orozco-Estrada, are substitutes. Harding is the music director of Orchester de Paris as successor to Paavo Järvi since the 2016/2017 season. In addition, Orozco Estrada has served as chief conductor of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra and music director of the Houston Symphony Orchestra, and has decided to take office as chief conductor of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra from the 2021/22 season.
