Swedish Mezzo-soprano Anne Sofie von Otter, 63, told in an interview with German weekly newspaper „Die Zeit“ against the #MeToo movement, the campaign against sexual harassment and assault.

Her husband Benny Fredrikson resigned his CEO position at the stockholm’s city theater Kulturhuset Stadsteatern end of last year after being exposed to aggressive media due to suspicion of sexual harassment.

An internal investigation revealed there was no existence of cases; however media wouldn’t have stopped hitting him and he couldn’t return to his position, which made him commit suicide in Australia on 13th of March this year, suffering from extrem depression.

January this year 100 French women including Catherine Deneuve signed an open letter against #MeToo movement. In the interview Von Otter criticized media’s tendency of exaggerating a story in oder to obtain readers, and stated „You can ruin a person“ against the #MeToo movement.
