PARIS 〓 Gustavo Dudamel was awarded the Officier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres

On September 3, conductor Gustavo Dudamel was awarded the Officier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, second class, by the French government. In 2009, Dudamel was awarded the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, 3rd class.

Dudamel was born in Venezuela and is 41 years old. One of the musicians who grew up from the music education “El Sistema.” he has been the music director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra since 2009, and since last season he has also been the music director of the Opéra National de Paris.

On the 3rd, he conducted Puccini’s “Tosca” to open the 2022/2023 season. After the performance, in which Sciór Hernández played Tosca, Joseph Calleja played Cavaradossi, and Bryn Terfel played Scarpia, President Macron awarded him.
