NEW YORK 〓 The Metropolitan Opera agrees on a labor agreement with the orchestra

The Metropolitan Opera in New York announced on August 24 that it has reached an agreement to conclude a new labor agreement with the orchestra. The contents such as conditions have not been clarified. The situation has made great strides towards the start of the new season on September 27th.

It was also announced that the opera will hold a performance to commemorate the agreement prior to the opening. The performance will take place on September 4th and 5th at Damrosch Park in the Lincoln Center. Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 “Resurrection” will be performed under the direction of music director Yannick Nézet-Séguin.

Both concerts are open to the public for free and will have approximately 2,500 seats at Damrosch Park. Starring soprano Ying Fang, mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves.

It has also been announced that the orchestra has agreed to launch a new series of chamber ensembles at Carnegie Hall’s Weil Recital Hall. Six concerts will be held from October to June 2022.
