The Berlin State Opera (Staatsoper Unter den Linden) has announced a lineup of performances for the 2021/2022 season. The new season will begin on August 28th with the performance of Beethoven’s “Fidelio”.

In addition to the world premiere of Peter Eötvös’s “Sleepless World,” which is a commissioned work by the theater, the following seven works are newly produced.

The reenactment of Christian Jost’s “Die Arabische Nacht”, which premiered in 2008, is also a hot topic. An opera version of Laurent Simmelpfenig’s play, which is said to be the most perform in the German-speaking world.

Simon Rattle’s guest performance has also taken root, and this time he will conduct the “The Maktropulos case”. Mozart’s “Da Ponte” trilogy, which was directed by Vincent Huguet will also be completed in the new season.

“Idoménée” is a five-act piece composed by French composer André Campra (1660-1744) in 1712. It will be performed during the Early Music Festival “Baroque Tage” in November.
