Conductor Maxim Emelyanychev extended contract with Scottish Chamber Orchestra. Emelyanychev became Principal conductor in the 2019/2020 season. The term of office will increase until 2025/2026.

Emelyanychev was born in 1988 in Dzerzhinsk, Russia. After studied at the Nizhny Novlogrod Music Conservatory, he studied at the Moscow Conservatory with Gennady Rozhdestvensky and Maria Uspenskaya. Debuted as a conductor at the age of 12.

He debuted at the Glyndebourne Festival Opera with Handel’s Rinaldo in the 2018/2019 season. Subsequently, in the 2019/2020 season, he made his debut at the Royal Opera House with Handel’s Agrippina. Both conduct the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.
