BERLIN 〓 German opera magazine “Opernwelt” announces “Of the Year”

The German opera magazine “Opernwelt” announced this year’s “Of the Year”. “Of the Year” has been selected by 50 people from Europe and US music critics and reporters. This time, the Salzburg Festival’s “Salome” production is highly evaluated, and it got “Production”, “Director” and “Singer”. “Salome” was premiered at the 2018 Festival and was also performed at the 2019 Festival.

This year’s “conductor” is Joana Mallwitz, a German female conductor. 33 years old born in Hildesheim. She studied at Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media, and became the GMD (General Music Director) of Erfurt Theater at the age of 27 in the 2014/2015 season. Since 2018/2019, she has been the GMD for the Nuremberg State Theater. she conducted Wagner’s “Lohengrin” and Prokofiev’s “War and Peace” at her theater, and was recognized for its success.
