TOKYO 〓 Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra announced concert lineup of the 2019 season

A lineup of the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra periodical concert in the 2019 season was announced. Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra will change the opening of the season from current April to January from 2020. Therefore, the 2019 season will be shorter than usual from April to November. However, under the chief conductor Andrea Battistoni, the honorary music director MyungWhun Chung, the special guest conductor Mikhail Pletnev, the Conductor Laureate Tadaaki Otaka, and Ryusuke Numajiri are all together in the lineup.

Soloists who collaborate are diverse, from experienced veterans such as Michie Koyama, Izumi Tateno to young people. Korean-American Christel Lee who won the 2013 Sibelius International Violin Competition will perform in Sibelius’s concerto, and Ryoma Takagi who won the 2018 “Grieg International Piano Competition” appeared. He plays Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 played in the final round in the Competition.
