VIENNA 〓 Vienna Symphony Orchestra will welcome the first concert mistress

The Vienna Symphony Orchestra will have Sophie Heinrich as the next concertmaster. Succeeding from the current concert master, Florian Zwiauer, retiring in May next year. Concert mistress (= female concert master) is the first in orchestral history. Heinrich was born in Augsburg in 1981. She studied at Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin, Lübeck University of Music and since 2013 she is a concert mistress of Komische Oper Berlin.
