The city of Düsseldorf decided to make the former house of the composer Robert Schumann a museum. The expenses are 3.2 million euros (about 425 million yen).

Schumann’s former house is on the 3rd floor of a three-story apartment on Bilker Str. In September 1850, Schumann moved from Dresden to become a music director of Düsseldorf, and lived in this room from September 1, 1852.

Schumann jumped into the river in February 1854 and attempted suicide, and on 5 March he was hospitalized in a hospital in Endenich, near Bonn. Schumann lived in this room until then.

Schumann died at the age of 46 on July 29, 1856, without leaving the hospital as it was. In this room, Schumann wrote works such as Cello Concerto, Symphony No.3 “Rhine”, Violin Sonata No.1, Piano Trio No.3.

On 30th September 1853, Brahms of the composer is visiting this room with a letter of introduction by the violinist Joseph Joachim.
