Verbier Festival 〓 Cancellation of performers continues one after another, finally requesting to Rattle

2018/07/31

At the Verbier Music Festival celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, performers are canceled one after another. Started with tenor Marcelo Puente getting down with poor physical condition on January 11, violin Janine Jansen, cello Gautier Capuçon, and cello Amanda Forsyth followed. After that, Pamela Frank stopped appearing and the master class was canceled. And now Iván Fischer, who was planning to direct three concerts, canceled. The chain of cancellation did not end there, and then it is falling into the descent to the pianist Denis Matsuev who was supposed to play two Prokofiev concertos. Everyone is on the grounds of poor health. In the Fischer’s three concerts are decided to be conducted by Gabor Takács-Nagy, François López-Ferre (the son of Jesús López Cobos), and the other is commissioned by Simon Rattle. In addition, Jean-Efflam Bavouzet and Daniil Trifonov were to be replaced by Matsuev.
