Russia’s leading conductor, Gennady Rozstdvensky, died on Monday in Moscow. He was 87 years old. What Moscow Conservatory has announced. His father is the conductor Nikolai Anosov, mother is a singer Natalia Rozhdestvenskaya. Studied at Moscow Conservatoire with father, piano under Lev Oborin. He received a mother’s maiden name for conductor’s debut. At the age of 18 who is currently studying at Moscow Conservatory he debuted with Prokofiev ‘s ballet music “Cinderella” at Bolshoi Theater. At the age of 20, Tachaikovsky’s ballet music “Nutcracker” was conducted and its talent was noticed early. In 1961 he became the music director of the Moscow Radio Symphony Orchestra (- 1974), in 1965 he became the music director of the Bolshoi Theater (- 1970). In 1969 he married a pianist Viktoria Postnikova.

In 1970 he received the Lenin Prize as early as possible. Music director of the Moscow Chamber Orchestra in 1972. After that, the activity rose sharply in Western Europe such as the Swedish Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra (1974 – 1977), BBC Symphony Orchestra (1978 – 1981), Vienna Symphony Orchestra (1981 – 1983) chief conductor and music director. The Soviet authorities, who was alert to his asylum, reorganized the State Symphony Orchestra of the Ministry of Culture in Moscow, and he became a music director in 1981 (- 1991). In addition to the complete symphonies of Shostakovich and Glazunov, the Symphony Orchestra has recorded a number of recordings, including a recording of works by Schnittke, Honegger and Vaughan Williams, as well as a heterogeneous version of Bruckner’s symphonies. Since 1974 he has taught at the Opera and Symphony Orchestra of the Moscow Conservatory and was awarded the title of the Soviet People’s Artist in 1976.

After the dissolution of the band with the collapse of the Soviet Union, in 1991 he served as chief conductor of the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra (- 1995), Chairman of the Bolshoi Theater’s Arts Committee. Since 2012 He was a music director at the Moscow Chamber Music Theater. In 1996 he received the National Prize. He was also an honorary member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music and the Royal Academy of Music in England. It is deeply related to Japan, and in 1957 he came to Japan for the first time as a conductor of the Bolshoi Theater. In 1972 he Conducted the Moscow Broadcast Symphony Orchestra in Osaka and performed Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 15 for the first time outside the Soviet Union. Since its first co-star in 1979, he has deepened relationships with the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra and was conducting many times. In 1990 he became an honorary conductor. In 2001 he received the Third Rank of the Order of the Rising Sun.
