Conductor Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla extended the contract with City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. She has been a music director since 2016 as a replacement for Andris Nelsons and has a new contract with a term extending until 2021. Gražinytė-Tyla was born in 1986, Vilnius of Lithuania. She studied at Graz, Zurich etc and received “Nestle – Salzburg Music Festival Young Conductors Award” in 2012. Afterwards, She served as a director of the Bern Opera, a music director at the Salzburg State Theater, and an assistant conductor for the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
