Salzburg Festival 〓 Salzburg Whitun Festival has announced its 2019 season

The schedule of Salzburg Whitun Festiva in 2019 was announced. The music festival was founded in 1972 by the conductor Herbert von Karajan. After the death of Karajan, it was interrupted for a while, but restarted as “Salzburger Barock Pfingstfestspiele” in 1998. Rare works such as Handel, Bach, Gluck, Rameau are featured. Currently, mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli serves as art director.

2019 is held from 7th to 10th June. The opera’s performance is “Alcina” and two works “Polifemo”. “Alcina”, performed at the Mozart Theater (formerly the Small Theater), is an opera by Handel and performed on June 7th and 9th. Bartoli, as well as Philippe Jaroussky, Sandrine Piau, Kristina Hammarstrom, Alastair Miles and others will appear. The director is Damiano Michieletto, and the conductor is Gianluca Capuano.

On the other hand, “Polifemo” is an Italian opera of three acts written by Nicola Porpora. Polpola is known as a teacher of Haydn, a composer of late Italian baroque music (1686 – 1768). Max Emmanuel Cencic who will also appear here also serves as a director. Yuriy Mynenko, Pavel Kudinov, Julia Lezhneva appeared, commanded by George Petrou. It is performed in Felsenreitschule on Saturday 8th in semi-stage format. On the 8th there are gorgeous gala concerts performed by Bartoli and Roland Billason.
