The Los Angeles Philharmonic has announced a charity concert to provide aid to Venezuela following the severe damage caused by an earthquake.
Venezuela is the home country of Gustavo Dudamel, who has served as music director since the 2009–2010 season and is set to step down after the 2025–2026 season.
The concert will take place on August 23 as part of the “Hollywood Bowl” summer music festival, with Dudamel conducting. Proceeds will be allocated to humanitarian aid and long-term recovery efforts through the UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) and CAF (Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean).
The earthquake that struck on June 24 forced the cancellation of overseas performances by the Venezuelan National Youth Symphony Orchestra, led by Dudamel.
