The Konzerthausorchester Berlin has extended its contract with Chief Conductor Joana Mallwitz. Mallwitz began her five-year tenure in the 2023/2024 season, and this renewal extends her term until 2033.

Malwitz, a 39-year-old native of Hildesheim, served as the first female General Music Director (GMD) of the Staatstheater Nürnberg from the 2018/2019 to the 2022/2023 season.

In 2023, she became the second female conductor to sign with the prestigious Deutsche Grammophon label, and she made her debuts with the Vienna Philharmonic at the 2024 Mozart Week and with the Berlin Philharmonic in 2025.
