FLORENCE 〓 Daniele Gatti has been named Music Director of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino

Maggio Musicale Fiorentino has announced that it will welcome Daniele Gatti as its new music director. President Alexander Pereira announced at a press conference to announce the performance lineup for the 2021/2022 season.

Gatti’s term begins this fall in the 2021/2021 season. The successor to Zubin Mehta, who has been a music director since 1985 and an honorary conductor since 2006. Mehta will continue to conduct some of the performances as a Conductor Laureate.

Gatti Gatti is now 59 years old. He has been the music director of the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma(Roman Opera) since December 2018, and the contract ended in the 2020/2021 season. It has already been announced that Michele Mariotti will replace him.
