TOKYO 〓 Vienna State Opera cancels Japan tour

The Japan tour of the Vienna State Opera in the fall of 2021 has been cancelled. The organizer announced on March 10th. Because preparations for both Japan and Europe have been delayed due to the corona pandemic.

The performance in Japan was scheduled to take place from October 14th to November 1st. Two operas were scheduled to be performed in Japan.

One is Richard Strauss’s “Der Rosenkavalier” conducted by Philippe Jordan, and the other is Mozart’s “Così fan tutte” conducted by Riccardo Muti. It was the first time for Jordan to be Japan after becoming a music director from the 2020/2021 season.
