The Orchester national de France has decided to welcome Italian flutist Silvia Careddu as a solo flute player.

Careddu was born in Cagliari and is 44 years old. She studied under Aurèle Nicolet and Pierre-Yves Artaud. After she won first place at the 2001 Geneva International Music Competition, she has been active in various orchestras.

She joined the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in 2017, including the principal player. However, in January 2019, when the trial period ended, she was not officially hired by a vote by the orchestra members and left the group.
