German Gütersloh police announced on January 21 that some of the opera costumes being transported by the truck were taken away by someone. Stolen was the costume of “Turandot” sent from Teatro Real in Madrid to the Lithuanian National Opera. The driver said that the truck was stolen during a nap at a resting place. The Lithuanian National Opera has also confirmed that it suffered damage, announced that more than 100 costumes were stolen and the damage estimated to be several hundred thousand euros.

“Turandot” scheduled to perform in the Lithuanian National Opera is a production jointly produced with Teatro Real, Canadian Opera Company, Houston Grand Opera. Robert Wilson is working on a new production. After the first day at Teatro Real on November 30 last year, it was scheduled to be performed at the Lithuanian National Opera from March 1. Insurance is put on costumes, the Lithuanian National Opera will make alternative costumes and make it in time for the first day.
