The Solti Foundation of the United States announced on May 23th that it will present the 2018 “Georg Solti Conductor Award” to Roderick Cox. Cox is now an assistant conductor of the Minnesota Orchestra. The foundation was founded in 2000 with the aim of honoring the worldwide conductor Sir Georg Solti (1912 – 1997). Started a program to support talented young American conductor from 2004, and since 2007 saw “Award” established. Solti was born in Hungary later as an exile to Britain, and in the United States he served as music director for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for a long time. “Award” which started every other year has selected recipients every year since 2001. Winners will be given the opportunity to command with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Lyric Opera, etc. in addition to the prize of $ 30,000. The past winners are as follows. Anthony Barrese (2007), Erik Nielsen (2009), Case Scaglione (2011), James Feddeck (2013), Cristian Macelaru (2014), Vladimir Kulenovic (2015), Karina Canellakis (2016), Christopher Allen (2017).
