Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival 〓 Emily D’Angelo received the Leonard Bernstein Award

Mezzo Soprano singer Emily D’ Angelo won the “Leonard Bernstein Award” this year on the 17th. The award is presented to young musicians in 2002, sponsored by the German savings bank financial group (Sparkassen Finanzgruppe), in honor of Bernstein, who was deeply involved in the creation of the music festival. The prize money is 10,000 euros. So far, the Pianist Lang Lang, Anna Vinnitskaya, Cellist Alisa Weilerstein, and violin violinist Charles Yang have won, but this is the first time a singer has won.

D’Angelo is a 25-year-old member of the Canadian Opera Company. Has won many awards, including 2nd place in “Neue Stimmen” in 2017 and 1st place in “Operaria” in 2018. In the 2018/2019 season, she made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera. She sings the Annio of Mozart“La clemenza di Tito”, the Second Lady of Mozart“Magic Flute”, and the Matilde sisters of Poulenc“Dialogues des Carmélites”.
