Associated Press reported on the testimony of nine women accusing sexual harassment by Plácido Domingo. Reported on the 13th, 8 opera singers and 1 dancer testify. Of the nine, Patricia Wulf, a mezzo soprano singer who was active in the Washington Opera, agreed to be named. The press reports not only the testimony of nine people, but also the testimony of thirty and more staff members who were “open secrets in the world of opera”.

According to AP reports, all charges were for acts in the 1980s and 1990s when Domingo was an artistic director for the Washington Opera and an art consultant for the Los Angeles Opera. When performing at the performance, he was forced to kiss, and he was relentlessly called into a hotel room with his advice. Some of the testimony said they were warned by the surroundings not to be alone with Domingo. They were afraid of affecting their career and were silent.

Domingo made a statement in response to this accusation. He say “It ’s hard to hear that someone has been afflicted.” And also say “People who know me or who have worked with me know that I am not someone who would intentionally harm, offend, or embarrass anyone.”

Domingo is 78 years old this year. In 2009, the route changed from tenor to baritone. This summer was also a big success, and on August 4th at Arena di Verona, he held a concert to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the debut of the music festival and appeared in the “Louisa Miller” at the Salzburg Festival. After that, he appeared in the opening concert of the Philadelphia Orchestra and appeared in the Metropolitan Opera “Macbeth”.
