MOSCOW 〓 The Jury of the “brass instrument division” of the International Tchaikovsky Competition were announced

The Jurys of “brass instrument division” of International Tchaikovsky Competition newly established this year was announced. The overall chairman of the competition to be held this year is the conductor Valery Gergiev. The Jury chairperson of the “brass instrument division” was decided as Ian Bousfield who became a member of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra for the first time as a British-born performer and was the principal player. The announced judges are the following members.

Timur Martynov = Principal trumpet player of the Mariinsky Theater Orchestra
Sergei Nakariakov = Trumpet player from Russia, currently based in Paris as a soloist
Radovan Vlatković = Horn player from Croatia, acting as a soloist after chief player of the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra


International Tchaikovsky Competition was founded in 1958. It was held in Moscow, it is said to be one of the world’s three major contests, alongside the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition and Chopin International Piano Competition, one of the most prestigious competitions in the world. When it was founded, it was only the piano and violin division, but in 1962, the “cello division” was held from the 2nd, “vocal music department” from 1966, “violin producer division” competing violin production technology from 1990 Are provided. Basically it is held once every four years and the 16th in 2019 will be held from 17th to 29th July.
