ROME 〓 Argerich was awarded the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic

A pianist, Martha Argerich, was awarded the “Commendatore” of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic on 24th October. On this day, she visited the Quirinale Palace in the presidential office with conductor Zubin Mehta. She played chamber music of Mendelssohn, Schumann in front of President Sergio Mattarella, along with members of the Israel Phil. In the concert, Lilyana Segre, a lifetime senator, and Ambassador of Israel were present. After the performance, President ordered a medal to Argerich.
