Cleveland Orchestra announced the dismissal of concertmaster William Preucil and principal trombone’s Massimo La Rosa. The reasons are both sexual harassment. In August this year, Pruschil emerged as sexual harassment by the report of the “Washington Post”. In response, the orchestra’s Board of Directors launched an independent investigation committee. In the investigation process, suspicion about La Rosa also emerged. After that, another woman’s complaint was also continued for the two, and the orchestra was waiting for the appearance of the two. The investigation committee said two people had sexual misconduct and sexual harassment with multiple female students and colleagues.

Preucil was born in 1958, Dearborn, Michigan, USA. After the concert master of the Utah Symphony Orchestra, Nashville Symphony, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, in 1989 he became the first violinist of the Cleveland String Quartet. After that, in 1995 he joined the Cleveland Orchestra as a concertmaster. In addition, he has served as a concertmaster of the Orchestra of the “Mostly Mozart Festival” held in New York, and is one of the leading US concert masters. Alexandra, a daughter born with a daughter of János Starker of Celister, is an assistant concert master at the Cleveland Orchestra.

One La Rosa was born in Palermo, Italy in 1974. In 1996 he joined the orchestra at the Fenice Theater in Venice as a chief player. Until joining the Cleveland Orchestra as chief player in 2007, he has appeared as a guest player in orchestras throughout Italy, including Milan La Scala Orchestra, Rome Santa Cecilia Academy Orchestra. He frequently visits Japan, such as performances and master classes, and is also guest at the “Saito Kinen Festival”. Both Prusil and La Rosa have taught students with the Cleveland Institute of Music, but both of them have already left their jobs.
