LONDON 〓 London Symphony Orchestra & Rattle will open a free academy for young musicians in 2019

London Symphony Orchestra led by Simon Rattle launched the “East London Academy” for young musicians from April 2019. It was revealed at a press conference prior to the opening of the season. Coaching, mentoring and master classes by orchestra members are offered to all participants for free at the Academy for young people aged 11 to 18.

The venue is “LSO St Luke’s” on Old Street. It is a building which refurbished “St. Luke church” which was closed in 1959, and now London Symphony Orchestra is using it as a concert and rehearsal venue. Academy recruit 20 people every year. In the long term, They plans to organize Chamber Orchestra by members of the Academy by collecting string instrument and wind instruments every other year.
