R.I.P. 〓 A world-class violist Michael Tree died

Worldwide viola player Michael Tree died on 31 March. He was 84 years old. Tree was born in New Ark, New Jersey in 1934. Father is a famous violinist, Samuel Applebaum who was also an educator who published numerous articles on music, books, teaching materials and so on. Trie was instructed from his father at a young age and entered the Curtis Institute of Music. He studied under a famous violinist from Russia, Efrem Zimbalist (1889 – 1985).

At the age of 20 he made his debut at Carnegie Hall and repeatedly performed with the nationwide orchestra. After that he played an active part in chamber music. Acting as a founding member of Guarneri String Quartet (1964 – 2009), he has over 80 recordings. He served not only in his mother’s school but also in the Juilliard School of Music, Manhattan School of Music, a professor at the University of Maryland and Rutgers University and was a core member of the Marlboro Music Festival for education.
