MADRID 〓 Pollini has canceled a tour of Spain scheduled for next April

One of the leading pianists, Italy’s Maurizio Pollini, has canceled a tour of Spain scheduled for next April. According to sources, he has health concerns and is still recovering from a serious respiratory illness.

The tour will take in Madrid, Zaragoza, and Barcelona. It was announced that the Madrid show will be rescheduled to one date, with Marta Argerich and Nelson Goerner filling in for her.

Pollini, 82 on January 5, canceled a recital at the Salzburg Festival in the summer of 2022 just before the performance, complaining of a heart condition; he returned on June 15, 2023, with a recital in Vienna.

However, he cancelled another recital in Paris on October 16. After that, he took the stage only in Zurich on October 30. He has not been on stage since then.
