Among the six new productions, Salome is a co-production with Moscow’s Bolshoi Theater and premiered in 2021. In addition, all of the contemporary works, including the opening performance, “Grounded,” have been performed at opera houses in the United States.

“Grounded” premiered in Washington last year, “Ainadamar,” premiered in Detroit last year, “Anthony and Cleopatra” premiered in San Francisco in 2022, and “Moby Dick” premiered in Dallas in 2010. In that sense, the only true new production is “Aida,” directed by Michael Mayer.
