OSAKA 〓 Japan Century Symphony Orchestra has announced that Joe Hisaishi will be the principal guest conductor

Osaka-based Japan Century Symphony Orchestra has announced that Joe Hisaishi will be the principal guest conductor. The term of office is three years from April 2021.

Guest performances in the first year are four times. First appeared in April, conducting Beethoven’s Symphony No. 8 in “Four Great Symphonies by Four Orchestras 2021”. West Japan tours are also planned for September and December.

Hisaishi is 70 years old born in Nakano City, Nagano Prefecture. He is one of Japan’s leading composers who has composed many Ghibli works such as “Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind”, music for movies such as director Takeshi Kitano, and TV music such as “Clouds Above The Hill”.

He made his debut as a conductor in 2000 and has gradually expanded his activities since then.
