San Francisco Symphony announced on the 5th that they will appoint Esa-Pekka Salonen (60) for the next music director. From the 2020/2021 season. Succeeded Michael Tilson Thomas (73). Tilson Thomas will retire as a music director for 25 years since 1995. Salonen has just announced that he will leave London Philharmonia Orchestra who has served as chief conductor since 2008 in 2021. Salonen served as Music Director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic from 1992 to 2009 and has served as Conductor Laureate since 2009.
