BRUSSELS 〓 European concert tour of NHK Symphony Orchestra of Japan has ended

The NHK Symphony Orchestra’s European concert tour, led by Chief Conductor Paavo Järvi, ended the concert in Brussels, Belgium on March 4th.

This European concert tour, which will be held for the first time in three years since 2017, started on February 22 in Tallinn, the capital of Paavo Järvi’s native Estonia.

Later, he performed in nine cities in seven countries, including London, Paris, Vienna, Cologne, Dortmund, Amsterdam, Berlin and Brussels.

The program they took on the tour was a combination of Toru Takemitsu’s “How Slow the Wind”, Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3, Bruckner’s Symphony No. 7, and Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 2.

On this tour, Khatia Buniatishvili of piano and Sol Gabetta of cello co-starred. Performed for the first time with Gabetta and the orchestra.

Although the infection of the new coronavirus is spreading in Europe, no concerts have been canceled and local performance reviews have been well received. The tour ended successfully.
