SHANGHAI 〓 “Operalia” for Young Singers to Be Held in Shanghai in 2026

“Operalia”, the competition for young singers, recently announced that its 2026 edition will be held in Shanghai, China. The event will run from October 26 to November 1, with the finals taking place at the Shanghai Grand Theatre.

Operalia is a competition for young singers founded by world-renowned opera singer Plácido Domingo, open to participants aged 18 to 32. Established in 1993.

Past winners include Lisette Oropesa, Sonya Yoncheva, Aida Garifullina, Pretty Yende, and Lise Davidsen. It was held in a different city each year: Moscow in 2021, Riga in 2022, Cape Town in 2023, Mumbai in 2024, and Sofia in 2025.
