VIENNA 〓 James Conlon to replace Daniel Harding for the Vienna State Opera’s “Opernball”

Conductor Daniel Harding has canceled the conducting of the “Opernball” at the Vienna State Opera on Wednesday.

According to his statement, due to serious illness in the family. It will be replaced by James Conlon.

The Vienna State Opera’s “Opernball” is one of the most prestigious dance parties in Europe. It was founded as early as 1877 during the Austrian-Hungarian Empire, and revived in 1956 after World War II.

It is held every Thursday before “Ash Wednesday” in February.

This year will feature soprano Aida Garifullina and tenor Piotr Beczala.
