OSLO 〓 Petr Popelka is appointed as the next principal conductor of the Norwegian Radio Orchestra

Czech conductor Petr Popelka is appointed as the next principal conductor of the Norwegian Radio Orchestra. The term of office is from the 2020/2021 season. Popelka studied contrabass at the Prague Conservatory and after graduation joined the Saxony State Opera (Semper Opera) in Dresden. He studied under Paavo Järvi, Peter Eötvös, and Jaap van Zweden. This is the first time to become the orchestra’s chief conductor.
