BRATISLAVA 〓 Daniel Raiskin is appointed as the next Slovak Philharmonic Chief Conductor

Russian conductor Daniel Raiskin has been appointed principal conductor of the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra. The term of office is three years from the 2020/21 season. The successor to James Judd, who has served as the principal conductor since the 2017/2018 season.

Ricekin is 49 years old, born in St. Petersburg. After studying the violin and viola, he left the former Soviet Union at the age of 20 and studied in Amsterdam and Freiburg and became a viola player. After that, he turned into a conductor and studied under Mariss Jansons, Neeme Järvi and Jorma Panula.

After becoming a conductor, he served as the principal conductor of the Rhine Philharmonic Orchestra (2005-2016) and the music director of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra (2018-). On the other hand, he is the principal guest conductor of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra.
