VIENNA 〓 Vienna Symphony Orchestra, Olsco – Estrada to the next chief conductor

The Vienna Symphony Orchestra announced on 29th that he will be the Principal Conductor of Colombian conductor Andrés Orozco-Estrada from the 2021/2022 season. He succeeded Philippe Jordan who is the principal conductor from 2014. Jordan will be appointed music director of the Vienna State Opera from 2020.

Orozco-Estrada was born in 1977 as Medellín, the second largest city in Colombia, the western center. After studying Conducting at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna under Uroš Lajovic, he took office as Principal Conductor of Tonkünstler Orchester (2009 – 2015). Since 2014 he has served as Chief Conductor of Frankfurt Radio Symphony, music director of Houston Symphony since 2015.
