The Vatican City was the smallest country in the world that was born in 1929. Of course, it is the country of the papacy, and Holy land for Catholics. There are many historic buildings in the small territory, including St. Peter’s Basilica.
The festival was founded in 2002 in the days of John Paul II. It was born at the leadership of Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger who later became Benedict XVI after succeeding. The host-orchestra is a music festival known to the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, which is held every autumn in the Vatican and several Roman city Christian worship facilities at the venue.
The concert of the Vienna Philharmonic is greeted by conductors such as Riccardo Muti and Christoph Eschenbach, as well as guest performances by prominent orchestras.
In 2013, Tomomi Nishimoto, Illuminato Philharmonic Orchestra and choir were invited from Asia for the first time, but invitation has continued for the fourth consecutive year since then. Also, since 2014, the “Holy Mass celebrated by His Eminence” during the music festival has been relayed to 35 countries around the world by the Vatican broadcasting.
