PRAGUE 〓 Semyon Bychkov canceled his conducting of the Czech Philharmonic due to recuperation after surgery, and 97-year-old Herbert Blomstedt took his place

2025/01/09

The Czech Philharmonic Orchestra has announced that Semyon Bychkov, who serves as the orchestra’s music director, will not conduct any performances in January due to hip surgery he underwent after a tour of the United States in mid-December.

He is scheduled to return in February, and Herbert Blomstedt and Nicholas Kraemer will serve as substitutes for the concerts in the second half of January.

Bromstedt will conduct works by Gabrieli and Bankieri, Mozart’s Concerto for 2 Pianos with the Labèque sisters as soloists, and Schubert’s Symphony No. 8, “The Great”. On the other hand, Kremer will conduct Bach’s Mass in B Minor.
