PRAGUE 〓 Czech Philharmonic named Rattle its principal guest conductor

The Czech Philharmonic has announced that Simon Rattle will be its principal guest conductor beginning next season, the 2024/2025 season. His tenure will begin next season and last for five seasons. Rattle has conducted the orchestra several times since his first guest appearance in 2019.

Rattle was born in Liverpool, England, and is 69 years old. He has served as Music Director of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (1980-1998), Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra (2002-2018), Music Director of the London Symphony Orchestra (2017-2023).

He is also beginning his tenure as Chief Conductor of the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks in Munich this 2023/2024 season.
