VERBIER 〓 Verbier Festival has announced its lineup for the summer of 2024

Switzerland’s Verbier Festival has announced its lineup for the summer of 2024, running from July 18 to August 4. The opening concert is on the 19th, with Simon Rattle conducting the Verbier Festival Orchestra in Mahler’s Symphony No. 3.

Attracting attention is the ever-gorgeous lineup. In addition to Rattle and Charles Dutoit, the conductors include James Gaffigan, music director of the Junior Orchestra, Daniel Harding, Antonio Pappano, Vasily Petrenko, Lahav Shani, Klaus Mäkelä, and Talmo Pertkoski.

Makela will also appear as cellist, performing Beethoven’s Triple Concerto with Leonidas Kavakos on violin and Lahav Shani on piano. She performs with the Festival Orchestra, conducted by Rattle.

In addition to Mao Fujita, who has appeared with the orchestra for the past years, Nobuyuki Tsujii from Japan will be a guest pianist. They will be joined by Alexander Kantorov, Bruce Liu, Evgeny Kissin, and Yuja Wang. Fujita will appear in the closing concert on August 4, playing Saint-Saens’ Piano Concerto No. 2, backed by the Festival Orchestra conducted by Dutoit.
