The 2021 overview of the Salzburg Easter Festival has been announced. The originally planned schedule has been shortened from April 2nd to 5th for 4 days. In addition, the concert-style performance of Puccini “Turandot” was cancelled.
Mozart’s Requiem will open on April 2nd, and the orchestra will be Staatskapelle Dresden under the baton of Christian Thielemann. The singers will be Golda Schultz, Szilvia Vörös, Sebastian Kohlhepp, Alexander Tsymbalyuk, and the Salzburger Bach Choir.
The concert of Staatskapelle Dresden on the second day of the music festival has a program called Grieg’s Piano Concerto with Denis Matsuev as a soloist, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 “Eroica”. Of course, Thielemann is the conductor.
The third day is a concert by Staatskapelle Dresden under the baton of Antonio Pappano. A program called Schumann’s Symphony No. 2, Mozart’s Violin Concerto with Hilary Hahn as a soloist.
In addition, on the final day, a gala concert will be held by the singer who was scheduled to appear in “Turandot”. Anna Netrebko, Golda Schultz, and Yusif Eyvazov will appear with Thielemann and Staatskapelle Dresden.
