VIENNA 〓 Barenboim will be the conductor of the 2022 New Year’s Concert

The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra has announced that the 2022 “New Year’s Concert” will be conducted by Daniel Barenboim. He will be his third appearance after 2009 and 2014. 2022 is a milestone year for him, 80 years old.

Barenboim made his debut at the Vienna Philharmonic in 1956 as a pianist, according to the announcement. Since becoming a conductor, he has conducted many concerts.

Due to the spread of the new coronavirus, the Musikverein Hall, home of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, was also closed. It was he who stood on the podium when it was reopened in June 2020.
