Barenboim made his debut at the Vienna Philharmonic in 1956 as a pianist, according to the announcement. Since becoming a conductor, he has conducted many concerts.

Due to the spread of the new coronavirus, the Musikverein Hall, home of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, was also closed. It was he who stood on the podium when it was reopened in June 2020.
