It has been announced that British conductor Jonathan Nott will not be extending his contract with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, and will be stepping down as music director and principal conductor at the end of the 2025/2026 season. Nott first guest-conducted the orchestra in 2014, and has been in the position since 2017.。
Nott is 60 years old and was born in Solihull, central England. After studying musicology at Cambridge University, he majored in voice and flute at the Royal Northern College of Music, and then switched to conducting. He was the principal conductor of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra from 2000 to 2016, and has been the music director of the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra since 2014.
