The festival founded by Neeme Järvi and Paavo Järvi, the active conductors of the world, in their hometown Parnu in Estonia. Overlooking the Baltic Sea, Parnu is one of the famous summer resorts of the Soviet era.
There were also many villas for musicians such as composer Dmitry Shostakovich (1906 – 1975) and historic violinist Davio Oistrakh(1908 – 1974). The Jarvi family moved to the United States when Paavo was 18 years old, but city filled with memories of childhood.
In 2010, Paavo started a master class “Jarvi Academy” for young conductors with his father. At the same time, he established a festival orchestra that united young Estonian performers. The festival lasts a week and the main venue is a concert hall that opened in 2002 and accommodates 1,000 people.
There are also concerts around the city. Historical buildings such as the Romanov dynasty church “St. Elizabeth Church” and children’s concerts are held at spa hotels.
