WASHINGTON 〓 Kennedy Center lays off members of National Symphony Orchestra

2020/03/30

The Kennedy Center lays off members of National Symphony Orchestra.

According to a U.S. report, the notice says that final payroll payments will take place on April 3 and health care coverage will stop on May 31.

Compared with the orchestra that has been laid off, health care coverage will not continue, and the lives of orchestra members will be more severe.

However, the notice has sent to musicians a few hours after President Trump approved the $ 25 million support for the Kennedy Center. Therefore, musicians are repulsing violently.

A branch of the musicians’ union in Washington, D.C., to which the orchestra members belong, argues that the decision “is not considered to be the behavior of an organization that raises donation nearly $ 100 million a year.”

The union also points out that it has violated bargaining agreements between management and the union. According to the union, in the agreement states that for economic reasons payments must be notified six weeks before stopping.

During the ruling and opposition talks over the $ 2 trillion stimulus bill, the Democrats insisted on support for the Kennedy Center. With that in mind, President Trump’s rebound is expected.
