The Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra in Sweden has been canceled in Japan.

This was requested by the Japanese government to refrain from performing due to the spread of the new coronavirus (covid-19). Orchestra members who have arrived in Japan will return home.

This is their first Japanese tour in 23 years, led by Santtu-Matias Rouvali, who has been the principal conductor since 2017.

The tour was scheduled to start on February 28 in Kawasaki. It was planned to perform in eight cities nationwide while co-starring with violin Fumiaki Miura and piano Mari Kodama.
