Czech conductor Radomil Eliška passed away. He was 88 years old. After studying at the Brno Conservatory, from 1969 to 1990 he was the principal conductor and music director of the Western Czech Republic Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra.
In addition to conducting his activities, he taught conducting at Prague University of Music in 1978, and served as a professor of conducting from 1996 to 2008. Instructed at the Prague Academy of Arts and raised Jakub Hrůša and others.
He came to Japan for the first time in 2004 and conducted the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra. After that, he performed one after another in Japanese orchestras and attracted attention. Since 2008, he has been appointed as the Principal guest conductor of Sapporo Symphony Orchestra (honorary conductor since 2015), and has recorded many recordings.
